MTL safety barrier MTL5573 is an isolated safety barrier, whose working principle is mainly based on voltage limiting, current limiting and isolation technologies to ensure safe and reliable transmission of electrical signals between hazardous areas and safe areas.

Signal Acquisition and Conversion

The module circuit of MTL5573 safety barrier first receives low-level DC signals from hazardous areas, which may come from temperature sensors (such as thermal resistors or thermocouples) or other types of sensors. The module circuit converts these input signals into 0.2-1VDC voltage signals for subsequent processing.

Signal Processing and Anti-Interference

The converted voltage signals are sent to the module for acquisition, amplification, operation and anti-interference processing. This step aims to improve the accuracy and stability of the signals while eliminating potential interference and noise. MTL5573 safety barrier has strong anti-interference ability, which can ensure stable operation in complex industrial environments.

Signal Isolation and Modulation

The processed signals are then modulated through a transformer to achieve output isolation. This step is one of the core functions of the isolated safety barrier. It can isolate the signals in the hazardous area from those in the safe area, thus preventing dangerous energy from escaping from the hazardous area into the safe area. At the same time, the modulation process also ensures the integrity and accuracy of the signals.

Power Isolation and Supply

MTL5573 safety barrier also provides an isolated voltage of 18.5∽28.5VDC, which serves as the working voltage for two-wire transmitters through the intrinsic safety energy limiting circuit. This design not only ensures the normal operation of the transmitter but also further enhances the safety of the system. The intrinsic safety energy limiting circuit can restrict dangerous signals with large current or high voltage from entering the hazardous site, thus protecting the safety of personnel and equipment.

Output and Alarm Function

The modulated and isolated signals are converted into 4/20mA current signals to drive loads in the safe area. This current signal is standard and universal, and can be seamlessly connected with various secondary instruments or other equipment. In addition, MTL5573 safety barrier is also equipped with an alarm function, which can provide an alarm point output. This alarm point output can be set as process high/low alarm or provide thermocouple fault pre-alarm, so as to respond to and handle abnormal situations in a timely manner.
